Dr. Nita Samantaray’s Contribution to Renewable Energy Innovation
Dr. Nita Samantaray, born and raised in Odisha and currently settled in Gujarat, has successfully completed her PhD in Applied Sciences from The NorthCap University. She is the Editor-in-Chief and CEO of The Crazy Careers Media House, a new-age media platform focused on education, careers, and empowering the youth of India. Dr. Samantaray proudly becomes the first PhD holder in her family, marking a significant academic milestone.
Her research focused on predictive modelling and optimization of perovskite solar cells, a breakthrough category of solar technology known for high efficiency and affordability. While perovskite solar cells have the potential to revolutionize clean energy, their large-scale manufacturing faces challenges such as performance inconsistency and process variability.
Under the mentorship of Dr. Arjun Singh and Dr. Anu Tonk, Dr. Samantaray integrated machine learning techniques to address these challenges. By analyzing a comprehensive dataset of perovskite materials and device parameters, she developed predictive frameworks capable of estimating key performance characteristics of solar cells even before they are physically fabricated.
This research significantly contributes to making the solar cell manufacturing process more efficient, cost-effective, and scalable - strengthening the global push toward sustainable energy solutions.
Before her PhD journey, Dr. Samantaray worked as an education journalist and she developed a strong inclination towards science communication. She holds a B.Tech in Electronics & Telecommunication and an M.Tech in Printing & Media Technology. Her interdisciplinary background helped her bridge the gap between scientific research and real-world impact.
Dr. Samantaray expresses deep gratitude to her parents Mr. Dilip Kumar Samantaray and Mrs. Prasanti Samantaray, her husband Mr. Himanil Desai, daughter Advaita, her late grandfather Mr. Balakrushna Majhee, mother-in-law Mrs. Bina Desai, and her late father-in-law Mr. Niketan Desai, along with her extended family and friends, whose constant encouragement and belief helped her persevere.
Going forward, Dr. Samantaray aims to expand her work in science communication and build a student-centric media platform that inspires young minds to pursue research, innovation, and careers that shape India’s future.
