Press Meet Held On World Press Freedom Day In Collaboration Of Krita & PCWJ
Kolkata: May 3rd, Krita, an organization dedicated to nurturing awareness and empathy among young minds, held a press meet at Purbachal to emphasize the importance of news in today's world. The event featured powerful talks by Mrs. Saswati Das National Organization Secretary Press Club Of Working Journalists
and Mrs. Ravina Ghosh State Convener of PCWJ West Bengal, who engaged with Krita NGO's children and youth. The event also celebrated the young performers of Krita who had previously showcased a play on environmental awareness (on National Press Award Ceremony held on 11th of April, 2025) and concluded with open conversations over tea and snacks.
This event brought together youth, speakers, and well-wishers in a meaningful discussion on the relevance and impact of news in modern society. Renowned speakers Mrs. Saswati Das and Mrs. Ravina Ghosh led the session, engaging Krita's young audience with insightful perspectives on how information shapes public opinion. They highlighted the necessity of critical thinking and awareness in an age where news is often manipulated through social media and digital channels. A proud moment followed when children from Krita NGO were awarded certificates for their exceptional performance in a play held in late April (to Gopal Mondal, Sujata Naskar, Arnab Roy, Soumyadip Dhara, Arnab Maity, Somnath Naskar, Ajoy Banik, Bikash Naskar). The play creatively showcased the devastating effects of pollution on Mother Nature and urged the audience to act for environmental conservation.
The event concluded with a 30-minute informal gathering over tea and snacks. This final session fostered close-knit conversations among attendees, where personal thoughts, visions, and concerns about journalism, media bias, and the need for authentic reporting were openly shared. The press meet not only informed but also inspired young minds to engage responsibly with the news around them, staying both aware and active in society.
